Software Development Engineer, AWS Manufacturing Infrastructure Services

We architect, build, and operate scalable services that enable AWS manufacturing infrastructure. Our platform ensures the health of AWS hardware by testing and verifying every new system across all manufacturing sites, enabling service owners such as EC2, EBS, and S3 to deliver healthy servers to data centers.
Key job responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain platform‑level software that manages verification and testing of AWS servers and racks.
- Collaborate with team and stakeholders to invent, design, and build stable, performant software that can be understood by unfamiliar SDEs.
- Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews, design discussions, and planning sessions.
- Identify and resolve root causes of complex problems, improving operational excellence.
- Mentor new teammates on software construction, operation, security, and overall system architecture.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
- 3+ years of professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of design or architecture experience for new and existing systems.
- Experience programming with at least one mainstream language.
- Experience building complex software systems successfully delivered to customers.
- Knowledge of computer architecture.
- 4+ years of production software development experience.
- 4+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for full development life cycle, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence.
Teams are co‑located in Cupertino or Seattle, with flexibility for occasional remote work. Engineers are on‑call once every six weeks on average, with process to minimize paging and maximize fault tolerance.
