Software Engineer, Java Developer

Overview

GE Healthcare's MIM Software business develops vendor-neutral imaging software to standardize workflows and simplify complex clinical scenarios. MIM® helps leading global healthcare organizations provide more precise, personalized care. This role is for a Java desktop application developer who will manipulate, display, find, transfer, and label medical images, and use tools within the MIM platform to automate medical processes, transfer and store medical data, and more.

• Maintain, improve, and add features to a large, mature code base written in Java, developing autonomy and creativity.
• Solve real-world problems with platform changes, extension creation, and automated flows within the software.
• Produce quality code by writing automated tests and participating in peer code reviews.
• Mitigate and document cybersecurity risks.
• Enhance custom frameworks and learn about the medical industry as needed.
• Investigate bug reports from end users within large software systems and provide solutions to user-facing teams.
• Interact directly with user-facing staff to define input requirements and assess the impact of your work.
• Communicate with the team regularly to coordinate projects, address roadblocks, and celebrate successes.
• Work with your manager to personalize your growth path.
• Contribute meaningfully to GE Healthcare’s mission of improving patient care.

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering, or a related scientific field with notable computer science coursework. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of four years of direct industry experience in Java.
• Knowledge of object-oriented principles and the data structures that support them.
• General problem-solving skills and strong analytical thinking.
• Effective communication and organization skills.
• An appetite for continued learning of both technical and interpersonal skills.
