Java Developer
Overview
GE Health Care's MIM Software business develops vendor-neutral imaging software to standardize workflows and support complex clinical scenarios. MIM is used by leading global healthcare organizations to provide precise, personalized patient care. The Java desktop application role involves manipulating, displaying, finding, transferring, and labeling medical images. The MIM platform provides tools to automate medical processes, transfer and store medical data, and more.

- Maintain, improve, and add features to a large and mature code base written in Java.
- Develop autonomy and creativity; produce quality code by writing automated tests and participating in peer code reviews.
- Mitigate and document cybersecurity risks.
- Enhance custom frameworks and learn about the medical industry as needed.
- Investigate bug reports from end users within large software systems and provide solutions to user-facing teams.
- Interact directly with user-facing staff to define input requirements and observe the impact of your work.
- Communicate with the team regularly to coordinate projects, overcome roadblocks, and celebrate successes.
- Work with your manager to personalize your growth path.
- Contribute meaningfully to GE Healthcare's mission of improving patient care.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field with notable CS coursework.
- Two years of industry experience (preferably in Java); or five years of direct Java experience in lieu of a degree.
- Knowledge of object-oriented principles and supporting data structures.
- General problem-solving skills, strong analytical thinking, and good communication and organizational abilities.
- Willingness to continue learning technical and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of medical imaging is not required.
