• Position: Senior Backend Engineer
• Type of work: Hybrid from Athens or Thessaloniki. 100% remote from other cities 50km+ from Athens or Thessaloniki is also possible.

As a Backend Engineer, you will join an autonomous Agile squad comprised of product owners, QA specialists, delivery leads, and fellow engineers. Your primary focus will be on building and maintaining high-performance backend systems that support both external-facing products and internal tools. You will be part of a larger engineering chapter focused on scalable, reliable, and efficient service delivery in high-traffic environments.

The backend is primarily built using C# and .NET Core. Frontend layers use Vue.js for modern applications, with legacy systems built using Razor views, Knockout.js, and jQuery. The team relies on MS SQL Server for data persistence, along with Redis and Elastic Search where performance demands it. RabbitMQ is used for message brokering. Git Lab supports version control and CI, while Atlassian tools are used for project management and documentation.

• Develop backend solutions from concept to production, ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Translate technical and business requirements into robust system architecture.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code to support high-traffic applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ship features quickly and effectively.
• Research and integrate new technologies to solve emerging technical challenges.
• Continuously seek ways to improve team processes, codebase quality, and product performance.

• 2+ years of professional experience developing backend applications in .NET or .NET Core.
• Strong knowledge of C# and the MVC architectural pattern.
• Solid understanding of fundamental web technologies like HTTP and REST.
• Practical experience with design patterns and software architecture principles.
• High standards for code quality and a passion for clean, maintainable development.
• Strong communication skills in English (both written and spoken).
• A proactive attitude and strong sense of ownership over your work.
• (Nice to have) Experience working with concurrency, multi-threading, or event-driven systems.
• (Nice to have) Exposure to distributed systems designed for high availability and scalability.
