Greystar’s D2AI team powers AI across the organization. This role sits at the intersection of data, technology, and business outcomes, requiring AI fluency and collaboration with engineering, analytics, and business teams to ensure reliable, responsible, and impactful AI solutions. The role focuses on designing, building, and deploying AI-powered products end-to-end, from data layers to user interfaces, and delivering features used by property managers, owners, investors, and residents.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Build AI-powered products end-to-end across digital products including a portfolio asset management platform, , and internal AI tools.
- Integrate AI/ML capabilities into production applications, including LLM-powered workflows, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and predictive analytics.
- Own features from concept through deployment: frontend UI, API design, backend services, data pipelines, and AI model integration.
- Prototype and iterate on AI-driven features, moving from proof of concept to production with speed and quality.
- Develop responsive, accessible frontend interfaces using modern frameworks and design scalable backend services and APIs to serve human users and AI agents.
- Work with cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred) including serverless functions, container orchestration, and managed AI/ML services, ensuring reliability, observability, and security.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Design, Business, and Data Engineering to define and deliver high-impact features; participate in architectural decisions for maintainability and AI readiness.
- Collaborate with engineers on AI integration patterns, prompt engineering, and modern development practices.
- Engineering Excellence: 5+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production applications.
- Strong frontend (React, Type Script, modern CSS) and backend (Python, Node.js, or Go) development.
- Experience with AI coding tools and building RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Relational and non-relational databases, caching strategies, and data modeling expertise.
- CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP acceptable).
- AI/ML Integration: Experience integrating LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) into production applications, including prompt engineering, function calling, and agent workflows.
- Familiarity with RAG architectures, vector databases, embedding models, and MCP or similar tool-use patterns.
- Understanding of build-vs-buy decisions for AI capabilities and ability to evaluate AI vendor tools.
- Personal projects or portfolio demonstrating AI-powered applications.
- Domain Knowledge (Preferred): Real estate, property management, or asset management experience; familiarity with marketplaces or multi-sided platform products; data governance awareness.
- Mindset & Communication: AI-first mindset, strong written and verbal communication, ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders, comfort with ambiguity, and collaborative team orientation.
- Tools & Technologies: Modern development tools (Git, issue trackers, IDEs), Databricks, Snowflake, cloud platforms, containers (Docker/Kubernetes), and design systems familiarity.
