- Design, develop, test, document, and maintain full‑stack web‑based applications for ERCOT’s Grid & Market Solutions (GMS), including the Resource Integration and Ongoing Operations (RIOO) system and Net Dependable Capability & Reactive Capability (NDCRC) applications.
- Adhere to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), performing testing and validation of applications to deliver high‑quality software to customers.
- Collaborate closely with customers, business area subject matter experts, internal technical teams, and project management to design, develop, and maintain complex solutions that support market needs and corporate requirements.
- Use source control tools such as Atlassian Bitbucket, manage code through CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Maven), and automate development processes.
- Conduct requirement, design, and architecture reviews; produce design specifications that comply with ERCOT architectural standards and blueprints.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve application issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and deliver effective solutions.
- Write and maintain technical documentation, product user manuals, and support documentation.
- Participate in manual and automated unit, regression, and integration testing; promote coding standards, best practices, and design patterns.
- Leverage AI tools such as Git Hub Copilot, GPT, and Claude to accelerate development, testing, and code quality.
- Work with data pipelines and data sets using Airflow and Databricks, and analyze third‑party software security vulnerabilities to implement security patches.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members, and serve as a subject‑matter expert for complex business problems.
- Participate in project planning, coordination, and delivery across all phases of application development.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience for Senior Level Engineer or 8 years for Lead Level Engineer.
- Proficiency in Java (17+), Spring Boot/Spring MVC; front‑end skills in Angular (v12+) or React;
Type Script, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3/SASS. - Experience with Python, shell scripting, and data pipelines (Databricks, Airflow).
- Knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and No
SQL (MongoDB, Cassandra). - RESTful API design, JSON, OpenAPI/Swagger documentation.
- Tools:
Git (Git Hub/Bitbucket), Maven, IDEs (IntelliJ, VSCode); deployment via Ansible; containerization with Docker. - Cloud experience with Azure or AWS.
- Experience with messaging services such as Tibco JMS, AMQ, Kafka, and CIM/XML model‑based tools.
- Power industry knowledge in grid and market arena, preferably with software vendors or ISO/utilities.
- AI and ML fundamentals, PyTorch/Tensor Flow, LLMs, prompt engineering, and RAG architecture/frameworks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to mentor and lead technical direction within the GMS Technology Development team.
- Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. - Preferred:
Master’s Degree in one of the same fields or equivalent education and experience.
- Site:
Taylor, TX – employees required on‑site at least two days per week. - Remote work permitted from a Texas residence; employees may choose to work on‑site more or 100% of the time.
- Scheduling is flexible and may be rotated based on business needs.
Expected salary range: $145,000 – $200,000, based on experience and qualifications.
