Backend Engineer (Healthcare)As a Backend Engineer (Healthcare), you will develop and maintain high-performance server-side systems that power critical healthcare applications. You will ensure the secure handling of sensitive medical data while enabling seamless interoperability between complex health platforms and clinical systems.
What You'll Do- Architect and scale HIPAA‑compliant backend services to ensure the integrity and privacy of patient data.
- Design and implement robust integrations with Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms like Epic and Cerner.
- Develop data pipelines and APIs that leverage HL7 and FHIR standards for healthcare interoperability.
- Manage Protected Health Information (PHI) by implementing advanced encryption and rigorous access controls.
- Build comprehensive audit logging and monitoring systems to maintain strict regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with security teams to enforce technical safeguards and protect health data across the stack.
- 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering with a focus on healthcare systems.
- Proven expertise in building HIPAA‑compliant systems and handling protected health information (PHI).
- Strong experience with EHR integrations, specifically with platforms like Epic or Cerner.
- Proficiency in healthcare interoperability standards including HL7 and FHIR.
- Solid background in implementing audit logging and technical safeguards for medical data.
- Advanced proficiency in English.
