Position Overview

TAG (Transformation Acceleration Group) is hiring a Solutions Architect I to help design and deliver AI‑powered enterprise applications across Kiewit’s district portfolio. This role is ideal for a developer who has outgrown pure implementation and is ready to think at the systems level — shaping how applications are structured, how they integrate, and how AI can be leveraged to accelerate delivery.

You’ll work alongside senior architects while building your own architectural instincts through hands‑on design and mentorship.

• TAG is building the foundational platforms for a $15B+ enterprise — your designs will scale across 40+ districts
• You’ll work across problem domains: internal platforms, district tools, AI governance, and SAP integration
• Strong mentorship culture: direct access to senior architects with deep Azure, AI, and enterprise experience
• We practice what we preach — our own development process uses AI agents, automated specs, and structured verification

• Pair regularly with senior architects on design sessions, trade‑off analysis, and stakeholder communication
• Participate in TAG’s architecture review board and contribute to enterprise patterns library

This is a full time in office role. We are willing to consider candidates in one of the following locations:
LaVista, NE;
Lenexa, KS or Dallas/Westlake, TX

• Collaborate with senior architects to design application architectures for TAG platforms and district‑specific solutions
• Translate business requirements into technical designs: component diagrams, data models, integration patterns, and API contracts
• Evaluate and recommend AI integration patterns: agent architectures, LLM‑assistant workflows, RAG, and structured output
• Contribute to architecture decision records (ADRs) and maintain living documentation
• Prototype proof‑of‑concept solutions to validate architectural assumptions
• Support Infrastructure‑as‑Code development:
  Bicep modules, Git Hub Actions workflows, and environment provisioning
• Participate in design reviews, threat modeling sessions, and cross‑team architecture forums
• Mentor developers on architectural patterns, best practices, and AI‑augmented development techniques
• Stay current on Azure services, AI tooling, and industry patterns — and share learnings with the team
• Help evaluate third‑party tools and services for fit within Kiewit’s enterprise constraints

• 3–5 years of professional software development experience
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, API design, and cloud‑native architecture
• Experience with Azure or AWS cloud services (compute, identity, networking, storage)
• Proficiency in at least two of:
  React/Type Script, Python, C#/.NET
• Demonstrated curiosity about AI/ML: prompt engineering, LLM integration, agent patterns, or model evaluation
• Ability to communicate technical concepts through diagrams, documentation, and collaborative design sessions
• Growth mindset — eagerness to learn from senior architects and continuously expand your skills
