Principal Software Engineer (Autonomy)

Location: Fort Worth, TX or Palmdale, CA.

Compensation: $160,000 - $200,000 + Bonus Eligible

Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Required

We specialize in the development, integration, test, and deployment of safety‑critical software systems that power next‑generation aircraft, defense platforms, and space technologies.

We are looking for a senior‑level Embedded Software Engineer who will develop, integrate, and test software products for autonomous flight systems.

Responsibilities include working independently or collaboratively with a high‑performing multi‑site team, using technical principles to solve complex challenges, and communicating project status to clients and peers.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
• 8+ years of software development experience using C, C++, Java, Python, and Bash for embedded systems.
• Hands‑on experience with sUAS and RC aircraft operations, integration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience developing autonomous flight systems using Ardu Pilot and/or PX4 flight controllers.
• Proficient with Git and collaborative software development practices.
• Familiarity with MAVLink, telemetry, command‑and‑control messaging, and mission planning.
• Understanding of robotics, autonomous systems, flight software, sensor integration, and embedded system design.
• Proficient with Linux and Windows development environments.
• Professional communication skills and experience collaborating with clients and peers.
• Active Secret DoD security clearance.
• 25% travel.

• Proficient with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket).
• Experience with Docker‑based development, deployment, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Embedded systems software for microcontrollers.
• Autonomy systems, including perception, sensor fusion, motion, and mission planning.
• Control systems.
• Test & Verification Engineering with automated tests and validation frameworks.
• Software quality processes and CI/CD.
• Electrical Engineering fundamentals.
• Technical documentation skills.
• Team‑based collaboration.
