Position: Software Engineer I

Summary

Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) seeks a Software Engineer I to work in Bryan, Texas. The role focuses on developing medium‑complexity software solutions across web, desktop, and cloud platforms, supporting Full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) activities.

Job Duties
  • Design, develop, install, debug, and test full‑stack web and desktop applications using JavaScript, Python, HTML, CSS, Node, PostgreSQL, and version control (Git Hub).
  • Build solutions for both on‑premises and cloud (Azure, AWS) environments, including Docker containerization.
  • Analyze user requirements, assess client needs, and contribute to SDLC planning.
  • Document system and program design, including data flow diagrams.
  • Configure and maintain server and client systems, ensuring security and accessibility standards.
  • Review all documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Software Engineer or Applications Developer, with at least one (1) year in web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, REST APIs, version control).
  • Experience with SDLC, coding and system design, data flow diagram creation.
  • Partial telecommuting permitted up to 3 days per week upon supervisor approval.
  • All positions are security‑sensitive and require a criminal history investigation.
