Project/UnitDescription
The GTRI CIPHER Lab's Secure Information Systems (SIS) Division is currently seeking a cyber security software engineer for its Maverick team. The division concentrates on the design and development of secure real‑world, multi‑compartment, multi‑level information sharing applications. Hardware and software design methodologies are combined to deliver information exchange solutions that pass the rigorous testing required to operate on the nation's most secure networks.
SIS solutions are nationally recognized within the government as state‑of‑the‑art, affordable, secure, and scalable. While many project requirements necessitate in‑office presence, we strive to support work‑life balance by allowing occasional remote work when feasible. Candidates should be prepared for on‑site work with specifics determined based on project needs and employee performance.
The Cyber Security Software Engineer designs, develops, and tests cybersecurity software in languages such as Java, C, and C++. The Engineer requires extensive knowledge of programming languages, software development, and computer operating systems in order to apply engineering principles to software creation. The skill areas include programming and coding, fundamentals of computer science, design and architecture, algorithms and data structures, information analysis, debugging software, and testing software.
The Engineer also creates novel cybersecurity technology components and software to ensure that critical systems and information are resilient to cyber exploits and attacks. The Engineer performs attendant vulnerability assessments, analysis, and software engineering and design. The Engineer also develops hardware and software prototypes and tests those prototypes in realistic environments.
- Design, test, and develop computer software in order to meet requirements.
- Develop and maintain kernel and user‑level software and scripts.
- Contribute to research reports, white papers, and competitive proposals.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to earn a Master's degree.
- One or more years of web application development experience.
- Solid understanding of web applications.
- Solid understanding of an Object‑Oriented Programming Language (Java, C#, etc.).
- Solid understanding of HTML and CSS.
- Front‑end framework experience (Angular, React, Vue, etc.).
