Silvus is seeking a Senior R&D Software Engineer to join our Research & Development team. You will report to the Senior Director of R&D, Electronic Warfare and lead the software design and implementation for next‑generation Networked Electronic Warfare (EW) systems. The position requires a strong foundation in modern software engineering practices, including Dev Ops and CI/CD, and the ability to collaborate effectively within multi‑organizational engineering teams to deliver mission‑critical capabilities.
This position is eligible for 100% remote work depending on location.
- Software Architecture & Development: design, develop, and optimize high‑performance embedded software for networked EW applications, ranging from low‑level driver integration to high‑level application logic.
- Dev Ops & CI/CD Implementation: architect and maintain modern CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, integration, and deployment, ensuring high code quality and rapid iteration cycles.
- System Integration: collaborate with hardware, RF, and systems engineers to integrate software with complex RF subsystems, validating performance in both lab and field environments.
- Cross‑Organizational
Collaboration:
act as a key technical liaison for multi‑organizational projects, coordinating API definitions, interface control documents (ICDs), and integration strategies with external partners and government stakeholders. - Algorithm Implementation: translate signal processing and networking algorithms into efficient, real‑time C/C++ code suitable for resource‑constrained embedded targets.
- Code Quality & Mentorship: lead code reviews, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior engineers in best practices for software design, testing, and documentation.
- Travel: occasional travel for team meetings at headquarters in Los Angeles, CA or other locations.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in software engineering with a strong focus on embedded systems.
- Expert proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
- Deep understanding of embedded Linux.
- Proven experience with Dev Ops methodologies and CI/CD tools (e.g., Git Lab CI, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong familiarity with version control (Git), issue tracking (Jira), and agile development methodologies.
- Active U.S. Government SECRET clearance or ability to obtain one within 12 months of hire.
- Must be a U.S. citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
- All employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a background check and drug test.
Skills and Abilities
- Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
- Prior experience developing software for Electronic Warfare, Signals Intelligence, Radar, or Tactical Wireless Communications systems.
