Job Description & How to Apply Below

At Tenor, we’re on a mission to transform workforce development - making every employee more effective, at the world's largest companies, through the power of AI.

People are what determine organizational performance, employee experience, and retention. Yet most companies still develop their workforce through slide decks and annual trainings that never touch the moments that actually matter.

That’s why we built Tenor, the AI for workforce development. Our platform lets employees practice hard conversations - like feedback, performance reviews, sales calls, and customer escalations - with realistic voice AI characters. Then we give them instant feedback to help them improve.

We’re backed by great investors and our enterprise customers include major name-brand companies.

Working at Tenor

We’re a team of good-hearted people building excellent product. We’re a people-first company: we want to be a great place to work for our employees, and a valued partner for our customers. Our team is distributed around the world, with our cofounders based in San Francisco, CA.

The Role

You can be located anywhere in the world, although you must overlap with US Pacific Time for at least 4 working hours between 9am and 5pm.

We're looking for a Senior AI Product Engineer who ships quality code quickly, collaborates well with a team, and cares about the people around them.

As a Senior AI Product Engineer, you will:

  • Work closely with the founding team to design and build the world's best management training solution, powered by state-of-the-art AI models.

  • Own product surfaces end-to-end - conversation flows, feedback interfaces, admin tooling - from idea through implementation to shipped, iterated-on user experience.

  • Produce high-quality software with minimal bugs, clean code, and lasting architecture.

  • Optimize our LLM usage to produce the best possible output, and build the supporting infrastructure (RAG pipelines, eval setups) as needed.

  • Build data integrations and figure out the best way to use our data

  • Serve as a role model as we build the best culture in the industry: a place where excellence and honesty can coexist with kindness, playfulness, and supportiveness.

The ideal candidate will...

  • Ship quality product code quickly, and have a history of taking projects from conception to execution.

  • Be strong in Type Script or JavaScript and comfortable owning features across our primarily-Type Script stack, from frontend to backend.

  • Have good product instincts - you think about the end-user experience, not just the underlying system.

  • Have experience working with LLMs (prompting, fine-tuning, RAG, evals) and are excited to deepen that skillset, even if it's not the majority of your background.

  • Have informed architectural opinions (but also be flexible when others disagree!)

  • Love to work with a team and collaborate towards a shared goal

  • Care about the people around you: other employees, customers, and of course all of the supportive people in your personal life.

  • Overlap with US Pacific Time for at least 4 working hours between 9am and 5pm.

  • Bring enthusiasm, energy, and care to add to our team culture

What s In It For You
  • We pay our employees fairly, with strong compensation packages.

  • We offer great healthcare benefits, 401(k), a learning and development stipend, a home office stipend, generous paid time off, and commuter benefits.

  • You get to work with great people on a high-performing team that genuinely cares about each other. Tenor is an equal opportunity employer, and we value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, disability status, or any other protected class.
