Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: AI/ML Intern – Small Language Models (MedTech)

Company Description

Regulify.

AI is an early-stage Med Tech startup building intelligent, domain-specific AI solutions to improve Med Tech product development workflows and outcomes. Our focus is on developing efficient,
small language models (SLMs) that are actionable, explainable, and deployable in real-world compliance environments.

Role Description

We are looking for a highly motivated intern to help research, design, develop, and test a Small Language Actionable Model (SLAM) tailored for Med Tech product development life cycle use cases. You will work closely with founders and engineers to build lightweight AI systems that can operate in constrained, high-stakes healthcare settings.

This role is ideal for someone who wants hands-on experience at the intersection of AI, healthcare, and product development
. Responsibilities include designing algorithms, conducting data preprocessing, building and fine-tuning models, and performing validation to ensure performance and efficiency.

This is a hybrid internship role for an AI/ML Intern specializing in Small Language Models (SLMs), located in Dallas, TX, with the flexibility for partial remote work. The intern will support the development and optimization of natural language processing (NLP) models, particularly small language models.

Qualifications
  • Conduct research on domain-specific language models, especially small and efficient architectures
  • Analyze Med Tech use cases (e.g., clinical documentation, decision support, patient triage)
  • Work with structured and unstructured healthcare datasets (synthetic or real, if compliant)
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, with familiarity in frameworks such as Tensor Flow or Py Torch
  • Strong skills in data preprocessing, data analysis, and building small-scale machine learning models
  • Knowledge of linguistic principles and familiarity with small or foundational language models
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a relevant degree in MS or PHD in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
  • Understanding of Med Tech compliance is a plus
  • Develop and evaluate models for:
  • Accuracy and reliability
  • Interpretability and safety
  • Latency and resource efficiency
  • Document findings, experiments, and model performance
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and documentation skills
What You’ll Gain
  • Hands-on experience building AI in a real-world healthcare context
  • Exposure to end-to-end product thinking (not just modeling)
  • Opportunity to contribute to core technology in an early-stage startup
  • Mentorship from experienced founders/engineers
  • Potential for a full-time role based on performance
