This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that you will work from one of our hubs in either Toronto or San Francisco.
About the TeamOur Cases Product Engineering team is in search of a Senior Platform Foundation Engineer who will lead the charge in architecting the core capabilities that power Even Up's entire platform! If you're passionate about building resilient systems that scale with massive data flows and love enabling other teams to move faster, this is your chance to shine. What You’ll Do- Actively engage in the full project lifecycle across the stack, with full ownership from conception to deployment and iteration.
- Architect and build the core infrastructure to manage large, high-throughput flows of data across our systems.
- Enable other engineering teams by building core platform functionality, including APIs, data export, and streaming capabilities.
- Design for configurability, giving teams across the organization the flexibility to build on top of the platform without reinventing it.
- Collaborate closely with backend engineers, product owners, and designers to develop efficient, innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Document technical interface requirements and convert specifications into technical designs.
- Optimize platform performance, reliability, and security to ensure the entire system runs smoothly at scale.

Experience:
Over 5 years of hands-on, relevant experience building core platforms or infrastructure systems that other teams depend on. - Technical Expertise:
Strong foundation in building resilient, well-architected code and systems designed to handle large volumes of data reliably. - API & Platform Design:
Skilled in designing APIs, data export, and streaming systems that are secure, performant, and easy for other teams to build on. - Fluent in SQL and strong relational databases fundamental to design data models that hold up at scale.
- Security & Performance Mindset: A high bar for security and performance in every design decision, from data access patterns to system architecture.
- Versatile Skillset:
Fluent in multiple programming languages, with proficiency in Type Script and Python preferred. - Skilled Communication:
Ability to communicate technical ideas or issues in easy-to-understand and actionable terms. - Bonus: experience in AI, legal tech, and social impact projects.
