Our client is a long-standing, mid-sized Alternative Investment firm based in Downtown Manhattan. Their internal team is looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join its growing technology team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong, hands-on engineer who wants to work in a sophisticated financial environment where technology has a direct impact on the business. The firm has built an established technology platform and is looking for someone who can immediately contribute to new development, enhance existing applications, and work closely with teams throughout the organization.

This is not a narrowly defined development role. The Senior Software Engineer will have the opportunity to work directly with business users, understand the problems they are trying to solve, design solutions, and take ownership of projects throughout the entire development lifecycle.

• Develop applications using Python, Java, or comparable object-oriented programming languages
• Work extensively with SQL, relational databases, and data-driven applications
• Collaborate with other engineers on complex development projects and broader technology initiatives
• Design, develop, enhance, and support full-stack applications used throughout the firm
• Build new applications and functionality while continuing to enhance an established technology platform
• Partner directly with business users to understand requirements and translate business needs into effective technical solutions
• Take ownership of projects from initial analysis and design through development, testing, implementation, and ongoing support
• Troubleshoot application and data-related issues in a fast-paced, high-performance environment
• Evaluate new technologies and development approaches that can improve applications, processes, and the firm's overall technology platform

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Strong hands-on software engineering and full-stack development experience
• Strong programming experience with Python, Java, or a similar object-oriented language
• Strong experience working with SQL and relational databases
• Solid understanding of application development, software design, testing, and the overall development lifecycle
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work through challenging and complex technical problems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to prioritize effectively and work in a fast-paced environment
• Collaborative, team-oriented approach combined with the ability to independently own projects and deliver results
