Software Engineer

We are looking for you as a software engineer to strengthen our powerful payment teams – in Hamburg or 100% remote within Germany. With us, you do not just code – you actively shape our product instellix together with your team.

You will have the space to take responsibility, bring in your own ideas and develop solutions together with your team. You will not work in a quiet room, but you will actively shape how instellix and our product develop further.

In our payment development team, everything revolves around the processing and handling of payment flows. This includes, among other things, the integration of payment service providers, the processing of settlements, the management of open items as well as the collection and in-house collection. You can expect varied professional challenges and a technologically demanding environment.

What does it involve?

• You design, implement and maintain the microservices of the payment domain at instellix using Java, Spring Boot, Gradle and Kubernetes.
• You have experience with relational and No
  
  SQL databases and can choose the appropriate approach depending on the requirements.
• You have experience with React, Type Script and Material UI and develop intuitive UIs with which complex payment processes can be processed efficiently and securely.
• Using clean code principles, you ensure the extensibility and readability of our source code – especially where money flows and state changes do not allow any room for interpretation.
• By tracking, alerts and monitoring, you find technical problems before they become visible to the customer – for example, if the processing of payment instructions, incoming settlements or webhook calls fails.
• You support our users and the customer support with technical problems and find a solution quickly and pragmatically together with them.
• You have a high sense of quality and ensure a sustainable further development of our product with automated tests at the relevant test levels.
• You deal with the operation of our platform services in the clouds of Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS – in close cooperation with our Dev Ops.

What you bring with you

• We are looking for people who develop software with passion, are looking forward to new challenges and want to develop themselves professionally and personally. You are interested in digital payment and financial processes and have a good understanding of the special requirements that are placed on reliable, secure and scalable software in this environment. It is not important that you are an expert in finance or accounting – what is much more important is that you have an interest in these topics and are keen to work yourself into the professional context.
• You have several years of experience in software development and solid Java knowledge. Ideally, you have already worked with Spring Boot and other technologies from our tech stack.
• Experience with the use of external APIs, webhooks and asynchronous event processing is a plus – ideally in the payment, fintech or integration environment.
• Even if you have already worked with payment service providers such as Adyen, Stripe or others, this is helpful but not a prerequisite.
• You are enthusiastic about clean system architectures and are interested in domain-driven design, microservices and hexagonal architecture – ideally you already have practical experience with it.
• You like to get your hands dirty and question existing code in order to separate responsibilities cleanly and create long-term maintainable solutions.
• You work cross-functionally, share your knowledge in pair programming and continuously develop yourself together with your team.
• You use AI as a sparring partner and tool in your everyday development, like to try out new AI-supported tools and approaches and use them to work more efficiently and develop better solutions – the responsibility for the result remains with you.
• You speak fluent German (min. B2) and good English.
