Python Developer - Insurance - Remote

Is This You? Are you an experienced Python developer who enjoys building backend applications, REST APIs, and data-driven automation for complex business processes? Do you bring strong backend development skills and an interest in applying them within insurance systems spanning policy, claims, underwriting, and billing?

Build and support Python applications and backend services that enable core insurance business processes. This full-time, remote Formativ Group role will support a client engagement in the insurance industry. You will develop and maintain Python applications, REST APIs, and data-processing solutions; integrate internal and external systems; and collaborate with business and technical teams to deliver reliable solutions. The role also supports cloud-based deployments and CI/CD processes, along with unit testing, debugging, production support, performance optimization, and secure development practices.

• Develop and maintain Python applications supporting insurance business processes, including Policy, Claims, Underwriting, and Billing systems.
• Build REST APIs and backend services, and integrate applications with internal and external systems using APIs and web services.
• Develop data-processing and automation solutions using Python and SQL, work with relational databases, and optimize SQL queries.
• Develop and maintain applications using Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions in an Agile/Scrum environment.

• Strong hands-on Python backend development experience, including building REST APIs and backend services.
• Experience developing applications using Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
• Experience with SQL, relational databases, data processing, and query optimization.
• Experience integrating applications through APIs and web services and supporting cloud-based deployments and CI/CD processes.
• Experience with unit testing, debugging, production support, performance optimization, and secure coding and development best practices.

• You collaborate effectively with business and technical teams to understand requirements and turn them into practical solutions.
• You are comfortable working hands-on across development, debugging, production support, and ongoing application improvement.
• You balance delivery with attention to code quality, performance, security, and reliable development practices.

• 7+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Prior experience supporting insurance systems or business processes, particularly Policy, Claims, Underwriting, or Billing.
• Broader experience across Python web frameworks, cloud-based deployment environments, or CI/CD processes.

• Deliver and maintain reliable Python applications and REST APIs aligned with defined insurance business requirements.
• Build effective data-processing, automation, database, and integration solutions using Python, SQL, APIs, and web services.
• Maintain application quality through testing, debugging, performance optimization, and secure development practices.
• Work effectively with business and technical stakeholders while supporting cloud deployment, CI/CD, and production needs.
