Location: Northern
Specter Ops is seeking an experienced Web Developer with deep Word Press expertise to support the ongoing development, optimization, and maintenance of our public-facing web presence. You will work closely with our Marketing team to build and refine web pages, implement new functionality, and ensure our Word Press environment is well-maintained and scalable.
We're looking for a self-directed developer who communicates clearly, manages their own workload effectively, and takes ownership of deliverables from start to finish. You should be equally comfortable building new features from scratch and jumping into an existing codebase to troubleshoot and improve it. The ideal candidate will bring both technical depth and an eye for design to every engagement.
Hourly Range: $75 – $85/hour, commensurate with experience
Location:
This position is remote, based in the U.S. with optional travel quarterly for in-person company events and other ad hoc meetings.
- Candidate must be authorized to work and reside in the United States; we do not currently sponsor immigration visas.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Word Press-based web properties, including custom themes and plugins
- Build and update landing pages, campaign pages, and site sections in close collaboration with Marketing and Design
- Optimize site performance including page speed, Core Web Vitals, and SEO best practices
- Manage Word Press configuration, plugin updates, and security hardening
- Integrate third-party tools and APIs including CRM, marketing automation, and analytics platforms
- Troubleshoot and resolve front-end and back-end issues in a timely manner
- Maintain clean, well-documented code and follow established development standards
- Support QA and testing processes to ensure consistent, high-quality releases
- Collaborate asynchronously with a remote-first team across Marketing, Design, and Operations
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional web development experience, with significant focus on Word Press
- Hands-on experience building and customizing Word Press themes and plugins from scratch
- Experience with Word Press VIP, including familiarity with its hosting environment, deployment workflows, and code standards
- Familiarity with page builders such as Elementor, Gutenberg, or similar tools
- Experience integrating Hub Spot, Salesforce, Google Analytics, or similar platforms
- Understanding of web performance optimization, Core Web Vitals, and technical SEO
- Solid grasp of Word Press security best practices and site hardening
- Experience with Git-based version control workflows
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment
- Strong written communication skills for async collaboration
Nice to Haves
- Experience with B2B tech or cybersecurity companies
- Familiarity with headless Word Press or REST API integrations
