The Role
We are seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join our IT team. This full-time, remote position offers an exciting opportunity to work on impactful projects that enhance our e-commerce platform and internal operations. Reporting to the Full Stack Team Lead, the ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance software solutions. The role involves building robust backend systems, improving internal tools, and ensuring system reliability to support our growing business needs.
This position provides flexibility in work hours, with scheduled travel to our headquarters in Melville, NY, three times per year. The Backend Engineer will play a crucial role in driving technological innovation and operational efficiency within our organization.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in backend and/or full-stack development
- Proficiency in Java and experience with Spring Boot framework
- Strong understanding of database design, RDBMS concepts, and SQL
- Experience with RESTful API design and integration
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience working within agile development methodologies
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and reusable code
- Effective communication and collaboration skills in a team environment
- High proficiency in written and verbal English communication
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and responsive design principles
- Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js
- Knowledge of cross-browser compatibility and performance optimization techniques
- Experience with frontend responsibilities including UI component design and implementation
- Ability to work closely with designers to ensure UI/UX standards are met
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and refine technical requirements aligned with business objectives
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable backend applications and systems
- Enhance internal tools and applications to improve operational efficiency
- Ensure system reliability, optimize application performance, and implement best practices for scalability
- Conduct code reviews, refactor existing codebases, and adopt modern development practices
- Stay updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in software development
- Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, including planning, coding, testing, and deployment
- Support troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving technical issues promptly
- Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing within the team
