Senior Java Backend Developer; Remote

As a Senior Java Backend Developer, you will make an impact by designing and developing scalable, cloud-based applications that support high-volume business operations. You will be a valued member of a collaborative engineering team and work closely with technical product managers, technical leads, developers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into reliable technology solutions.

• Design, develop, and implement scalable backend applications and analytics solutions using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and cloud technologies.
• Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions and confidently lead technical discussions with product managers, technical leads, and other stakeholders.
• Build high-quality application features by following industry coding standards, developing unit tests, and meeting established code-coverage expectations.
• Support the complete software delivery lifecycle, including application testing, CI/CD deployment, production release, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Create and maintain technical designs and service specifications while providing guidance to developers on functional and technical documentation.

• 6+ years of software development experience, with advanced proficiency in Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Data JPA.
• Hands-on experience developing and supporting scalable backend applications in a cloud environment.
• Strong experience with Apache Kafka or another enterprise messaging or queueing technology.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and modern application deployment practices.
• Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment and collaborating with technical and business stakeholders.

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Experience designing large-scale, high-volume, or distributed applications.
• Knowledge of cloud-based analytics solutions and architectures.
• Experience implementing application monitoring and observability solutions.
• Ability to guide developers and contribute to technical design and documentation standards.

The annual salary for this position is between $68,000 - $110,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
