Senior AI/ML Engineer

Blu Omega is seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer to support our Federal Health team. This role is responsible for defining and developing mission-critical machine learning solutions within a cloud environment.

Responsibilities

• Write, test, and maintain production-quality code in Python to develop, deploy, and optimize machine learning models.
• Design and implement robust ML workflows—including generative AI, agent-based architectures, and RAG pipelines.
• Build scalable, automated training and inference pipelines using cloud-native tools (e.g., AWS Sage Maker, Azure ML, Databricks).
• Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and Dev Ops to integrate ML solutions into real-time and batch production systems.
• Conduct code reviews, refactor legacy codebases, and enforce best practices in ML model lifecycle management.
• Lead experiments and A/B testing initiatives to validate model performance and business impact.
• Stay current with new AI research and help translate novel ideas into prototypes and products.
• Document architectural decisions and development patterns to support reproducibility and knowledge sharing.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in coding bootcamps or pair programming sessions.

Required Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of professional software development experience building production-grade ML systems.
• Expert-level coding skills in Python, with knowledge of testing, packaging, logging, and CI/CD practices.
• Deep experience with ML frameworks like Tensor Flow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.
• Demonstrated experience deploying ML models into production environments using cloud-native tools (e.g., Sage Maker, Azure ML, MLflow, Airflow).
• Proficient in building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines in distributed environments.
• Proven ability to implement MLOps practices supporting scalable ML (versioning, monitoring, retraining).
• Experience with generative AI, agent frameworks, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines.
• Ability to translate business problems into technical solutions with clear deliverables.
• Familiarity with Git Hub, JIRA, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related technical field.
• Eligible for Public Trust or equivalent clearance.

Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
