The Duke Energy Information Technology Summer Internship Program is designed for currently enrolled college students looking to bring their passion, skills, knowledge, and innovative mindset to the energy sector. As an IT Intern supporting the Nuclear Report Intelligence (NRI) team, you will gain hands‑on experience working with business intelligence, data analytics, reporting solutions, workflow automation, artificial intelligence, and application development technologies.
Interns will collaborate with experienced professionals to support the enhancement of Nuclear Report Intelligence (NRI) solutions, reporting platforms, data integration initiatives, and AI‑enabled search capabilities.
- Python development and automation
- Data analysis and reporting using PostgreSQL and SQL
- Power Platform solution development (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)
- Dashboard and report creation
- Data integration and process improvement initiatives
- AI-enabled search and knowledge management solutions
- Enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college or university
- Preferred majors include Management Information Systems (MIS), Business Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields
- Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
- Must not graduate prior to August 2027
- GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Previous internship, project, research, or leadership experience
- Interest in data analytics, business intelligence, automation, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies
- Familiarity with relational databases and SQL query development
- Experience working with datasets and performing data analysis
- Exposure to Python programming and automation concepts
- Familiarity with Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate
- Experience creating dashboards, reports, visualizations, or automated workflows
- Understanding of data modeling, business intelligence, and reporting concepts
- Exposure to PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or similar database technologies
- Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, or related collaboration tools
- Familiarity with REST APIs, system integration concepts, or source control tools such as Git
