Role overview
An Engineering Manager role on the Ingest team of a fully remote, open-source observability platform that serves more than 10,000 organizations. The team owns Fleet Management, the Kubernetes Monitoring Helm Chart, and the Instrumentation Hub, which together turn the intent to instrument into deployed, working observability at scale.
Responsibilities- Lead and develop a distributed team of backend and frontend engineers, providing feedback and supporting growth through regular career conversations.
- Partner with go-to-market teams to help customers and prospects succeed with their observability collection journey.
- Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to keep Fleet Management, the Helm Chart, and the Instrumentation Hub coherent within the broader platform experience.
- Guide the team from ideation through planning, execution, and post-launch, ensuring consistent delivery quality.
- Foster a psychologically safe environment that encourages experimentation, learning, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute across team boundaries and partner with other functions to solve customer problems.
- Experience managing software engineers across distributed, remote-first teams.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Helm, and cloud-native deployment patterns.
- Comfort working across the project lifecycle with product, engineering, and go-to-market stakeholders.
- Track record of fostering inclusive, high-trust engineering cultures.
- Background with observability tools and platforms such as Prometheus, Mimir, Loki, Tempo, or Pyroscope.
- Experience operating large-scale, multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
- Comfort using AI coding assistants as part of daily workflows.
- 100% remote-first culture with team members across more than 40 countries.
