Transportation Specialist (Railroad) Intern
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD), Northeast Region (NER) is currently recruiting for a Transportation Specialist (Railroad) Intern. This intern position inventories and documents the highway-railroad crossings within the region.
This position is headquartered in Green Bay, WI.
This position may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of the work schedule. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.
Intern positions are full time (40 hour per week, Monday – Friday) starting in the summer with the possibility of extending through the fall semester. Students who have already graduated or will be graduating from a college/university program in May 2026 are ineligible. However, students who have graduated from an undergraduate program but are enrolled in or entering a graduate program are eligible.

Position SummaryUnder close to limited supervision of the Technical Services Supervisor and at the direction of the Northeast Region (NER) Regional Railroad Coordinator (RRC), this position inventories and documents the highway-railroad crossings, and assists the RRC with providing guidance to staff and coordination on highway-railroad crossings. The primary duties include:
- Documenting the highway-railroad inventory for the Railroad Crossing Inventory (RCIS) database.
- Assisting the RRC with coordinating and guiding activities to ensure the project development process addresses highway-railroad coordination.

Salary InformationThis position is in schedule-range (14-15) with a salary of $17.75 per hour.
