Overview
Join the Department of Transportation as a Transportation Automotive Equipment Specialist and play an important part in keeping our equipment in top condition. This role lets you work closely with skilled staff while supporting the maintenance of vehicles and tools that keep our communities moving. - Provide technical guidance and assistance to maintenance staff to ensure compliance with equipment policies and standards.
- Take part in inspections and review maintenance trends to support accurate reporting.
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating repairs and upkeep for the district pool car fleet.
- Help develop and support training programs for mechanics and equipment operators.
- Assist with annual equipment, radio, and tool inventory activities.
- Operate CDL and non‑CDL equipment as needed while following all safety and testing requirements.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
- Telework:
Opportunity to work from home part‑time after successful completion of probation, subject to meeting connectivity and location requirements. Telework availability may change. - Salary:

- Three years of journey‑level experience in the maintenance and repair of gasoline and diesel‑powered heavy construction and maintenance equipment; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Possession of a valid Class A or B Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement and the Air Brake (L) and (E) restrictions removed.
- Possession of a valid Class 4 or 7 Pennsylvania Inspection Mechanic Certification.
- One year of experience or training in the repair or maintenance of diesel engines.
- Must meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
