Job SummaryBechtel Global Logistics is seeking a part‑time, teleworking Logistics Specialist based in Houston. The role will support domestic and international multi‑leg shipment coordination for the Natrium project, ensuring safe, timely, and economical delivery of goods in accordance with company policies and project requirements.
Major Responsibilities- Support the Logistics Lead in planning and executing project freight requirements from the home office.
- Coordinate domestic and international multi‑leg shipment activities to meet project timelines.
- Collaborate with suppliers, freight forwarders, carriers, project stakeholders, and site personnel on transportation activities.
- Perform transportation planning, shipment tracking, issue resolution, and logistics documentation for domestic and international shipments.
- Assist with provider bid tabs, commitment authorizations, and contract documents within Bechtel policies.
- Prepare commercial bid tabs, commitment authorizations, and contract documents for logistics service providers.
- Enter shipment tracking data into the Transportation Management System (TMS) and other functional tools to provide visibility of shipment status.
- Generate logistics reports or performance metrics as required to satisfy project information needs.
- Audit and process logistics service provider invoices in accordance with project procedures.
- Identify transportation cost and service alternatives to support material and equipment purchase decisions.
- File and resolve logistics service provider claims.
- Assist in the preparation of logistics studies, including site and service provider facility visits.
- Organize import/export and customs documentation in compliance with import requirements.
- Collaborate with the project supply‑chain management team to review logistics strategies considering cost, risk, and schedule assessments.
- Integrate safety requirements and measures into all logistics activities.
- Report to and receive operational direction from the Project Logistics Lead.
Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and either 5–8 years of relevant experience or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge And Skills- Knowledge of multimodal transport modes—including airfreight, sea freight, containerized, LCL, break‑bulk, barging, and domestic transportation, including oversize/overweight.
- Knowledge of domestic and international trade and commercial terms.
- Strong logistics fundamentals and the ability to quickly develop project‑specific competencies.
- Knowledge of industry packing, making, and shipping requirements.
- Practical understanding of Incoterms (2020).
- Ability to use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve issues creatively and effectively.
- Recognized as an individual contributor with a specialized skill set.
- Availability to attend logistics meetings, travel to ports of loading and discharge, and supervise cargo truck, vessel, and barge operations.
- Capability to analyze data and evaluate identifiable factors to solve problems of diverse scope.
- Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Builds professional networks with senior internal and external personnel in the relevant expertise area.
