Lead and coordinate day-to-day logistics activities for the Butte facility, including inbound and outbound transportation, import/export activities, freight management, and logistics compliance, ensuring the safe, compliant, timely, and cost-effective movement of goods while providing guidance and operational support within the logistics function.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe following examples of duties and responsibilities illustrate the general range of tasks assigned to the position but are not intended to define the limits of required duties. Other essential duties may be assigned consistent with the general scope of the position.
- Lead the resolution of logistics issues and transportation disruptions, including booking changes, shipment delays, carrier constraints, customs issues, and other time-sensitive matters, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
- Manage relationships and service performance with key carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, warehouses, contracted drivers, and other logistics service providers, including issue resolution, audits, site visits, and business reviews.
- Monitor and analyze freight rates, fuel costs, and transportation market trends to support budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and logistics decision-making.
- Coordinate logistics-related contracts and service agreements, including rate reviews, renewals, and service requirements, in coordination with relevant internal functions.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable DOT, IMDG, import/export, and other transportation requirements, and maintain required logistics-related licenses, permits, registrations, and certifications.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve logistics processes, cost efficiency, service reliability, and operational controls.
- Provide day-to-day supervision, work direction, and training to employees performing logistics activities and provide operational coverage as needed.
- Manage domestic and international shipments from origin to destination, including bookings, transportation arrangements, shipping documentation, customs requirements, delivery coordination, and shipment tracking.
- Coordinate daily inbound and outbound shipment requirements with Customer Service, Operations, Product Management, the Distribution Center, carriers, and customers to establish priorities and ensure timely and efficient movement of products.
- Execute product shipments in company systems and ensure required shipping and invoicing information is accurate and completed on time.
- Administer freight damage claims, including investigation, documentation, carrier coordination, and resolution.
- Maintain key logistics schedules, records, and tracking tools, including the weekly gas shipping schedule and chassis inventory, ensuring accurate and timely information is available to relevant stakeholders.
