What you’ll do

• Ensure aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy prior to transporting medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals.
• Exercise final authority for safe, legal operation of Air Methods aircraft, passengers, cargo, and equipment.
• Conduct thorough preflight planning and inspections before every flight; sign the Daily Flight Log to verify airworthiness and perform full walk‑arounds before and after flights.
• Remain proficient with aircraft systems and medical backup systems; ensure the medical team is familiar and comfortable with the cabin and equipment.
• Execute detailed flight planning on short notice to exacting standards.
• Complete required documentation and participate in company meetings, projects, committees, and community outreach.

• Licenses/Medical:
  Active FAA Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with instrument rating appropriate to aircraft category/class (an ATP in category satisfies the instrument requirement);
  First‑ or Second‑Class FAA Medical Certificate.
• Ratings:
  Fixed‑wing multiengine rating for twin‑engine aircraft;
  Commercial single‑engine land for single‑engine aircraft.
• Currency:
  Flown in category within the previous 24 months.
• Minimum flight time (IFR program):
  • 2,500 total hours (fixed‑wing)
  • 2,000 hours in category
  • 1,000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours cross‑country (including at least 50 hours at night)
  • 500 hours turbine
  • 100 hours night
  • 100 hours actual instrument conditions in category
• Education/
  
  Experience:
  
  Associate degree or equivalent from a two‑year college/technical school plus 2–5 years of related experience/training, or an equivalent combination; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Professional qualities:
  Reliable attendance, strong communication, and positive relationships with colleagues, EMS partners, hospitals, and the public.
• Physical standards:
  Flight‑crew personnel must weigh no more than 250 lbs and be less than 70 years old.

• Operate PC‑12/PC‑12 NGX and BE200 aircraft under IFR.
• Deploy from a home base in the Pac West to Air Methods bases nationwide based on operational need.
• Work a consistent 7‑on/7‑off roster with 12‑hour duty periods.
