Estimator Role Summary

The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for residential and commercial construction projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and scope documents. The Estimator works closely with Project Managers, clients, and trade partners to ensure bids are competitive, complete, and aligned with company standards and profitability goals.

• Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents to prepare detailed estimates.
• Quantify materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs for residential projects.
• Recreate or create Xactimate estimates when required.
• Develop accurate cost breakdowns and final proposals for insurance and client‑pay projects.
• Prepare bid packages and send to subcontractors/suppliers for pricing.
• Analyze subcontractor quotes for accuracy, scope coverage, and competitiveness.
• Maintain a current database of pricing, productivity rates, and vendor information.
• Support Project Managers in developing budgets, schedules, and preliminary scopes.

• Collaborate with Project Managers, Operations, and Design teams to align estimates with project delivery plans.
• Attend site visits, client meetings, and walkthroughs to gather information for estimates.
• Provide clear, professional communication with clients, adjusters, and partners regarding scope and pricing.
• Ensure all estimates meet company profitability, compliance, and risk standards.
• Track bid outcomes, closure rates, and variance between estimate and actual costs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating templates, tools, and workflows.
• Support the Operations team with change orders and supplemental estimates as required.
• Follow targets to attain success metrics.
