Animal Services Representative (Part-Time)
Hourly Rate: $24.76- $32.19
Placement within this range is dependent on qualifications, experience, and ultimately established by the ARC Board of Directors. The ARC Executive Director of Animal Services will serve as the ultimate hiring authority. The ARC is not employed by the City of Ontario nor any other agency members. The successful candidate will be an at-will employee of the Animal Resource Center of the Inland Empire and ultimately they will be appointed by and serve under the ARC Executive Director of Animal Services.
This current vacancy is for part-time only and the eligibility list may be used for any full-time and part-time vacancies in the future.

The Animal Services Representative will be providing a variety of specialized clerical services for the Department of Animal Services. Areas of assignment may include, but are not limited to, animal licensing, front counter operations, clinic programs, or phone center operations.
Under general supervision, the Animal Services Representative performs advanced customer service and administrative support work at the Animal Services Center. This role requires independent judgement and knowledge of animal services and office support procedures to handle specialized tasks and public inquires.

The following procedures will apply:
- The Eligibility List will consist of both internal and external applicants who meet the qualifications and successfully complete any required selection processes.
- The hiring department has the discretion to consider internal applicants on the Eligibility List prior to considering external candidates on the Eligibility List.
- The Animal Resource Center of the Inland Empire serves the right, if necessary, to accept only the first one hundred (100) applications from applicants that meet the qualification guidelines below.
- Completed applications will be reviewed and only qualified applicants whose qualifications best meet or exceed the requirements of the position and needs of ARC will be invited to participate further in the selection process.
The essential functions typically performed by the Animal Services Representative include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provides courteous, high-quality service to members of the public and volunteers by personally responding to requests for service or making appropriate referrals.
- Plans, organizes, and carries out administrative assignments and special projects.
- Performs a variety of office administrative duties including front counter customer service and answering phone calls.
- Maintains daily revenue reports, reviews utility readings and make adjustments as necessary.
- Processes animal licenses and fees, issues receipts, and accounts for funds received.
- Designs and/or revises office forms; maintains complex filing systems for keeping track of animal licensing information, pet adoptions, clinic services, or other animal service transactions.
- Welcomes customers, determines the reason for visits, and directs customers appropriately.
