Aplin has partnered with a leading manufacturer of advanced HVAC and chiller solutions to recruit an Application Technologist / Engineer (Sales). This role is ideal for an early-career engineer or technologist who is passionate about HVAC systems, customer solutions, and technical sales support. Reporting to the Application Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in developing chiller selections, preparing technical submittals, and supporting customers and sales teams throughout the project lifecycle.
This is a hybrid position offering the opportunity to work with innovative cooling technologies and collaborate with cross‑functional engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams across North America.
- Salary Expectations: $80,000 - $90,000 per annum, commensurate with experience
- Prepare preliminary and final chiller equipment selections based on project requirements, operating conditions, and performance criteria.
- Review customer specifications, drawings, and technical requirements to develop accurate system recommendations.
- Ensure all equipment selections comply with applicable codes, standards, and product limitations.
- Prepare complete technical submittals including performance data, drawings, equipment schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accuracy and consistency of project documentation throughout all phases of the sales process.
- Respond to customer and sales team inquiries regarding chiller applications, performance, and system operation.
- Provide technical guidance to support equipment selection and system design decisions.
- Participate in customer meetings, technical discussions, and project reviews as required.
- Collaborate closely with sales, engineering, manufacturing, and service teams to ensure alignment on proposed solutions.
- Ensure timely completion of selections and submittals while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy.
- Stay current with HVAC technologies, chiller systems, refrigeration principles, and industry best practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility is considered an asset.
- 0–2 years of experience in HVAC, mechanical systems, or a related technical field.
- Knowledge of HVAC equipment selection, system analysis, and engineering fundamentals.
- Exposure to refrigeration systems is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and technical communication skills.
- Customer‑focused mindset with the ability to build strong working relationships.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- French language skills are considered an asset.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (less than 25%).
- Deliver preliminary equipment selections within 48 hours whenever possible.
- Complete technical submittals within established project timelines, typically within 10 business days.
- Maintain customer satisfaction levels above 90%.
- Ensure a high degree of accuracy and quality in all technical documentation and project deliverables.
