Responsibilities
  • Paint according to company required specifications. Apply specialized skills.
  • Complete assigned Lean Enterprise initiatives including 5s activities.
  • Troubleshoot problems, identify, and communicate discrepancies.
  • Complete required paint documentation including VOC log, check sheets.
  • Move painted parts to the next process and verify they meet company mandated specifications.
  • Recommend improvements to the painting process.
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner and keep all employees aware of dangers in the work area. Practice good housekeeping.
  • Follow Safety, Health, Environment, and Hazardous Waste Rules and Responsibilities.
  • Drive and operate different equipment such as golf carts, company vehicles, forklifts, etc.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and services.
  • Complete all PM and CM logs and paperwork.
  • Comply with the company safety program and trainings.
  • Work productively and cohesively in a diverse and multicultural environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid Driver License.
  • 3-5 years of residential and/or commercial interior/exterior painting/repair work.
  • Experience with prep, grit blast and final paint of heavy machinery.
  • Understand all paint related safety training including Haz‑Mat, respirator, VOC, and paint booth operation.
  • Possess basic mechanical skills (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting).
  • Familiarity with airport operations is a plus.
  • Computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to clearly direct, lead work tasks, and delegate assignments to peers.
  • Ability to communicate professionally to customers and fellow employees.
  • Ability to be badged to work in secure areas of an airport.
  • Ability to work day or night shift, including weekends and holidays.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of a Painter, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and work in small spaces. Ladder work is required. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Ability to work in outside weather conditions on an airport ramp around aircraft and in the confined areas of baggage conveyor systems. Specific vision abilities required include good close‑proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Good hand/eye coordination is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment of a Painter is similar to airport operations with vehicular traffic. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, cold, and vibration. The noise level is usually loud. Employees will work on an airport ramp around aircraft and around heavy equipment.
