What’s the role?

The Senior HVAC Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems and related building infrastructure supporting Carl Zeiss Meditec’s manufacturing operations.

This role plays a critical part in maintaining reliable facility operations and ensuring the environmental conditions required to support medical device manufacturing. The Senior HVAC Technician will work with critical systems, including cleanroom and production-area HVAC systems, chilled water systems, and associated mechanical equipment.

Here’s what you’ll do:

HVAC Systems Maintenance Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial and industrial HVAC systems.

Maintain and troubleshoot a variety of HVAC and mechanical equipment, including:

Air Handling Units (AHUs) and Rooftop Units (RTUs)
Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
Chillers, chilled water, and glycol cooling systems

Boilers and heating systems

Exhaust systems

Pumps, valves, and related mechanical equipment

Diagnose system failures, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.

Monitor and maintain required temperature, humidity, airflow, and pressure conditions throughout the facility.

Cleanroom & Controlled Environment Support Maintain HVAC systems supporting ISO-classified manufacturing and laboratory environments.

Help ensure cleanroom environmental requirements are consistently maintained, including temperature, humidity, airflow, and pressure relationships.

Troubleshoot environmental excursions and support the implementation of corrective actions.

Follow cleanroom gowning, contamination control, and other applicable procedures when entering controlled environments.

Preventive Maintenance & Reliability Perform scheduled preventive maintenance using the Facilities CMMS, MPulse.

Accurately document maintenance activities, findings, repairs, and recommendations in the CMMS.Identify equipment deficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance system reliability and performance.

Support facility and equipment uptime goals by proactively identifying and addressing potential issues.

Building Automation Systems (BAS)
Monitor and troubleshoot HVAC controls through the Building Automation System.

Identify alarms, abnormal operating conditions, and equipment trends.

Work with controls contractors and other technical resources when advanced troubleshooting or repairs are required.

Safety, Quality & Compliance Perform all work in accordance with applicable safety and quality requirements, including:

OSHA requirements

Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures

Electrical safety practices

Company Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies

Quality system requirements

Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.

Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and technical information.

Follow all applicable procedures and requirements associated with a medical device manufacturing environment.
