Essential Functions

  • All Material Handlers:
    Operates a lift truck by driving backwards and twisting to look in the direction of travel; operates a lift truck across shifts; performs routine inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment (e.g., cleaning or recharging batteries) and refers defects or repairs to supervisor/maintenance; moves controls to drive battery-powered lift trucks and transport materials between loading, unloading, processing, and storage areas;

    operates lifting devices (forklifts, lift beams, swivel-hooks, hoists, elevating platforms) to load, unload, transport, and stack material; positions lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes and secures material for transport to designated areas; manually loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices; maintains reliable attendance; performs duties in conformance with safety and security standards;

    performs other duties as assigned or needed.
  • Unloader:
    Unloads products from inbound carriers (truck and rail cars); verifies product identity and counts accurately; inspects condition of received product; moves and places product safely and securely in its proper storage location.
  • Preloader:
    Receives and reads preload orders; fills orders by accurately picking product from storage and staging it on a spot using stacking guidelines; inspects and loads trucks and arranges products with space in the trailer according to loading practices; uses scanning device and computer as needed; checks printout for shortages, over-counts, and incorrect model numbers; corrects shortages, over-counts, and incorrect models where possible.
  • Truck Loaders:
    Inspects trailers before loading; counts units on preload spot and compares with shipping documents; moves products from preload spot and from storage into the trailer; arranges products within the trailer cube according to loading guidelines; properly secures the load for travel.

  • Paperwork Verification – Ability to verify paperwork to ensure correct product; inspect condition of received and outgoing product for quality.

Skills & Abilities
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience:

    One to two years related experience.
  • Computer

    Skills:

    Basic scanner technology.
  • Certificates & Licenses:
    Valid State Driver’s License; forklift certification preferred.
