Dispatcher Position
Dispatcher:
Education/Certification/
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; any combination equivalent to sufficient training and experience in school transportation. Desired
Qualification:
Three (3) years in fleet dispatching; valid California School Bus Driver's Certificate; first aid and CPR certificates; valid California Class B/p/s driver's license; driving record acceptable to the District's insurance carrier.
Ability to:
Dispatch District buses/vehicles including home-to-school, special education, and special events; adhere to route schedules and timelines; analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; maintain records; read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures; provide positive customer service; serve as a liaison between schools, administrators and parents; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others using tact, patience and courtesy;
use appropriate communications protocol; use discretion and maintain confidentiality; exhibit punctuality.
ESSENTIAL & REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES – Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Receive and schedule transportation requests for field trips and school related activities. Update and maintain route information, destination maps, and directions. Assist school personnel in scheduling student transportation needs. Maintain records and files including driver time, mileage and vehicle equipment use. Operate communications system and modern office equipment. Answer staff, parent and student questions and concerns. Schedule relief drivers. Coordinate outside transportation services.
Assist in establishing schedules, routes, and bus stops. Perform other related duties as assigned. This position is to begin As Soon As Possible. However, a start date is contingent on fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice. Fingerprints will be taken at the time the position is accepted. Applicant is responsible for the required fingerprinting fee. Fingerprint clearance does not pertain to current employees of the Chaffey District.
