Registered Nurse (Labor and Delivery)

Registered Nurse (Labor and Delivery) provides compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. The role monitors maternal-fetal status, collaborates with the care team, and supports safe, timely interventions.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and maternal vital signs, escalating concerns promptly.
  • Assess labor progression and patient condition, documenting findings accurately and timely.
  • Administer medications and perform nursing interventions according to established protocols.
  • Support deliveries by assisting with procedures, maintaining sterile technique, and preparing equipment.
  • Coordinate care with physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and neonatal teams to ensure continuity.
  • Provide postpartum education, including recovery guidance and when to seek medical attention.

Qualifications:

  • Hold an active RN license with eligibility to practice in the applicable jurisdiction.
  • Maintain current BLS certification; possess or obtain ACLS certification as required.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of labor and delivery workflows and maternal-fetal monitoring.
  • Exhibit competency in triage, assessment, and recognizing high-risk changes during labor.
  • Prove effective communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Show ability to manage documentation and critical charting requirements accurately.
