Wastewater Operator in Training

· Equipment Maintenance Starting at $22.50 - $23.50 per hour DOE

• Operate and maintain water and wastewater treatment plants including treatment systems and related facilities
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, control panels, compressors, chlorinating equipment, and analyzers
• Conduct daily visual inspections of lagoons and treatment processes
• Maintain samplers, collect samples, and record all data as required by the City's discharge permit
• Perform basic laboratory tests to ensure proper water and wastewater treatment
• Maintain accurate logs and records per discharge permit, QAQC program, and DEQ/EPA regulations
• Perform routine custodial and maintenance duties — buildings, grounds, lagoon dikes, buffer zones, farm roads, and fences
• Operate City vehicles and heavy equipment or provide manual labor as needed
• Perform on-call services after normal work hours as needed

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license
• Basic computer skills — word processing, spreadsheets, and ability to learn a CMMS
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs with assistance for physically demanding tasks
• Comfort working in varied environments — laboratory, confined spaces, outdoor weather, and around fumes, chemicals, and raw sewage
• Availability for on-call duties after normal work hours
• Strong commitment to safety protocols and recordkeeping accuracy

Work is performed in laboratory, outdoor, and confined space environments with possible exposure to fumes, oils, chemicals, and raw sewage. On-call services required after normal work hours.
