Position: PSYCHOMETRIST

Psychometrist

Terms of Employment: 10 months (207 days/8 hours per day)

Qualifications:

  • Masters in Education and Certification in School Psychometry
  • Ability to meet suitability criteria under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Measure and evaluate student intellectual capabilities, academic achievement, and behavioral characteristics.
  • Interpret the meaning of evaluative data for the classification of students and for the planning and implementation of educational services.
  • Provide consultative services to students, teachers, administrators, parents and others in interpreting and analyzing assessment data for use in planning learning environments, using intervention strategies and classroom diagnostic techniques.
  • Participate in eligibility and individualized education program meetings as needed.
  • Stay abreast of current issues in the area student assessment.
  • Generate psychological and academic achievement reports that adhere to the standards established by the State Department of Education.
  • Maintain and submit accurate records and reports in a punctual manner.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communications.
  • Assist the Coordinator in monitoring the adherence to evaluation and eligibility timelines in order to fully comply with State and Federal regulations.
  • Assist the Coordinator in maintaining the operation of the office for special education by performing such tasks as data entry, filing, ordering materials, communicating with staff and community, and any other necessary tasks as directed.
  • Exhibit positive human relation skills in maintaining good rapport with all school personnel, parents and students. Maintain positive, professional attitude toward students, school programs, personnel and confidential information.
  • Engage in personal professional growth and demonstrate professional ethics and leadership.
  • Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy and state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by administrators.
