Position: ELL INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE (OPELIKA MIDDLE SCHOOL)
ELL Instructional Aide

Qualifications:

Associates Degree or the Equivalent or Passing Scores on a Work Keys Test
Proficient oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish.

Reports To:

Principal
Annual Calendar Days: 187 days (9 months, 7.5 hours/day)
Job Goals:
To assist with translation of information provided by parents, guardians, schools, teachers, administrators, and others.
To assist in providing supplemental support to schools with ESL students and their families.
Responsibilities:
Work with individual or small groups to reinforce skills introduced by the teacher.
Perform clerical and record-keeping duties as assigned by the principal and teacher.
Operate and care for equipment and materials used in assignments.
Report to the teacher any problem or special information about students.
Keep all information concerning school business, students, and personnel confidential.
Observe students during in-school and/or community-based work experience, during classroom activities, at home and other current school and community environments.
Assists as needed with translating written communication from central office administrators, school administrators, teachers, and other staff members into Spanish to assist in communication with parents of ELLs.
Assists with conducting ESL parent workshop and family literacy training sessions.
Provides translation services for teacher conferences and parent meetings, when requested.
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Administrator.
