We are looking for an entry‑level civil engineer to join our Traffic Engineering team in our Auburn/Opelika office. In this role, you will support the project manager in finding solutions to improve the transportation systems for all users, including vehicles, pedestrians, and bicycles.
Our team works on a variety of traffic engineering projects, including traffic signal design and retiming, traffic impact assessments, and transportation planning and safety projects such as Safe Streets For All (SS4A). These projects aim to enhance safety, improve mobility, and reduce congestion.
Typical responsibilities include conducting road safety assessments, participating in public engagement activities, performing traffic observations, designing new traffic signals, conducting traffic impact studies, and writing safety action plans for cities that outline transportation solutions.
Must Haves- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Passion for Traffic Engineering and roadway safety
- Familiarity with traffic operations and conceptual geometric design
- Knowledge of the Access Management Manual, MUTCD, the Highway Safety Manual, and the Trip Manual
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
- Valid Driver’s License
- Engineer (E.I.) certification
- Experience with traffic impact studies
- Involvement in a professional organization
- Prefer software experience with Micro Station, Open Roads, ArcGIS, and/or Synchro
