Role SummaryLeads environmental, occupational health, and safety programs for the business, ensuring regulatory compliance, reducing risk, and supporting workers’ compensation, loss control, pollution prevention, and waste minimization. Serves as an EHS subject matter expert, advises leadership on regulatory changes and business impacts, and supports interactions with agencies, industry groups, and other external stakeholders.
Core Functions- Develop, implement, and monitor EHS programs and management systems to meet company policies and all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Lead training and compliance efforts for associates across key safety and environmental topics, including hazard communication, PPE, powered industrial vehicles, emergency preparedness, spill response, stormwater, and equipment safety.
- Interpret regulatory requirements, assess operational risk, and guide facilities on corrective actions, compliance planning, and issue resolution.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and behavioral observations; identify gaps; and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Track and communicate EHS performance, KPIs, audit results, and special project findings to support management decision‑making.
- Support external agency interactions, compliance negotiations, investigations, due diligence activities, and review capital projects for EHS impact and resource stewardship.
- Promote continuous improvement, best‑practice sharing, emerging EHS technologies, and a proactive safety culture across facilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Life Science, Safety, Risk Management, or a related field required.
- An associate degree may be considered with a commitment to complete a bachelor’s degree within 2–3 years.
- CSP certification and OSHA 30 are preferred.
- 3–5 years of relevant EHS experience in food manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution environments.
- Strong knowledge of safety and environmental compliance programs.
- EHS auditing, regulatory interpretation, and continuous improvement/root cause analysis.
- Effective in problem‑solving, influencing without direct authority, training associates, communicating with internal and external stakeholders, and preparing reports.
- Proficiency with standard business software is expected.
- Experience with incident reporting systems is a plus.
- Lead through influence across all levels of the organization.
- Drive compliance and measurable EHS performance improvements.
- Support audits and agency/customer relations.
- Serve as a change agent for continuous improvement.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex EHS, operational, and compliance issues using sound judgment and root cause analysis.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills, with the ability to train associates, collaborate across teams, interpret regulatory and operational information, prepare clear reports, and manage multiple priorities.
- Able and willing to travel as needed, including by automobile and air.

Lead and achieve results through influence in environments with limited formal authority, using a facilitative and effective management style.
