Job Summary
The Electrical Engineer - Level 1 is responsible for performing basic electrical power, lighting, and/or low voltage system engineering tasks for electrical construction projects, under the direct supervision of an upper level Engineer, Senior Electrical Designer, or Engineering Team Leader as assigned by the Corporate Engineering Manager. The ideal candidate must be proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD/Revit knowledge is required, knowledge of electrical terminology and symbols is required, and knowledge of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) is necessary.
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering – Electrical, or Associate Degree in Electrical Technology
- 4 years of progressive electrical engineering related experience
- 5-10% travel
- Work schedule:
7 AM to 5 PM, Monday‑Friday
This position is expected to be onsite in Opelika, AL. Relocation assistance may be offered for those outside of AL who plan to relocate. Onsite training is provided but requires relocation to WI or KS facility for 3 months. Lodging, travel, and food are covered by the company during this time.
Key Responsibilities- Prepares and studies technical drawings, and electrical specifications to ensure that installations and designs conform to standards and customer requirements.
- Conducts field surveys and studies diagram and other data to identify and correct power system problems.
- Operates computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
- Performs detailed calculations to compute and establish construction standards and specifications, with direction from an upper-level Engineer.
- Plans layout of electrical construction projects with direction from an upper level Engineer.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Additional functions and requirements may be assigned by supervisors as deemed appropriate.
