Maintenance Manager
Position Summary
Supervises repair and maintenance of buildings, plant equipment, and manufacturing equipment; schedules preventive and predictive maintenance; assists in the development of safety programs.
Responsibilities- Leads and supervises all maintenance processes and operations.
- Schedules planned maintenance activities, including preventive and predictive maintenance, major equipment overhauls, and facility and site improvements to reduce equipment failure and downtime.
- Directs computerized maintenance systems to ensure data acquisition and equipment histories are accurate and complete.
- Supervises, trains, and develops department staff to enhance the quantity and quality of employees’ work.
- Assists in the development of a comprehensive safety program and maintains safety work order records to ensure a safe working environment.
- Recommends, processes, and approves equipment improvements and supervises installation of engineering controls and equipment updates.
- Assists in developing a comprehensive departmental budget to keep the department within budgetary guidelines.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requires one to two years of college or 8+ years of maintenance/technical experience.
CertificationNone.
ExperienceRequires five to eight years’ experience in food or CGP in a maintenance/technical discipline. Requires 5+ years of supervision in a technical discipline. Background knowledge in Facilities is a must.
Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesCompetent knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance programs; requires good oral and written communication skills and good computer skills. Good mechanical and electrical aptitude. Ability to manage a 7‑day‑a‑week, 24‑hour‑a‑day operation.
Physical RequirementsGeneral manufacturing environment. Ability to work weekends as required. Exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, humidity, darkness, and/or noise. Daily exposure to physical risks such as mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards. Ability to stand, sit at a desk, walk around the office and plant; lift and carry packages up to 50 pounds; use fine dexterity; reach, kneel, crawl, and twist to inspect equipment.
Requires ability to see, hear, and communicate with employees and others using professional etiquette.
The incumbent has direct supervisory responsibility for up to 15 employees.
