Full‑time | Food Manufacturing & Facilities Maintenance | 3rd Shift

About the Role

To ensure the proper daily handling and cleaning of parts taken from Formax and grinders, effectively stoning to offset poor patty forming or defects, examining and inspecting items for wear or defects, maintaining inventory of tools and equipment, and picking up and delivering items to and from departments.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Cleaning, inspecting, greasing machines, and repairing grinder knife assemblies and plates.
  • Issue, receive, and store items in an orderly and accessible manner.
  • Examine and inspect items for wear or defects.
  • Maintain inventory of tools and equipment.
  • Pick up and deliver items to and from departments.
  • Participate in purchasing and repair of tools and equipment.
  • Explain relevant policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Maintain files and records.
Essential Functions
  • Adheres to safety, food safety, quality and legal compliance.
  • Performs all work in accordance with environmental, health and safety standards, rules, regulations, and practices of the facility.
  • Passes required training/certifications, including mandatory LOTO training and certification.
  • Dry cleans breather plates, mold plates, anti‑lip bars, etc.
  • Sanitizes small parts and stages them on clean surfaces.
  • Systematically removes each plate, inspects edges, stones edges, and surfaces as required.
  • Sands and files burrs from plates and other meat‑forming parts.
  • Observes and analyzes equipment performance and reports any problems to the supervisor.
  • Maintains a clean area free of debris, waste, and safety hazards.
  • Documents completed work as required by the supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical and Visual Activities
  • Lift, handle, and carry tools, plates and other machine parts.
  • Work with chemicals.
  • Ability to visually differentiate items of color, up close and at a distance.
Physical Requirements
  • Wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing.
  • Stand/walk 7 or more hours per day.
  • Constantly reach, twist/turn, talk/hear, and taste/smell.
  • Use eye/hand and eye/hand/foot coordination when inspecting and handling equipment and navigating/cleaning machinery.
  • Frequently squat, bend, handle/finger, and grip/grasp.
  • Frequently lift up to 25 lbs from floor to overhead and carry up to 100 feet.
  • Frequently lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist and carry up to 100 feet.
  • Occasionally knee/crawl, climb and use fine motor tasks.
  • Occasionally lift up to 100 lbs from floor to overhead and carry up to 20 feet.
  • Push tool cart requiring 35 lbs of force over 100 feet.
  • Pull water hose requiring 25 lbs of force over 50 feet.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions
  • Constantly work in damp, wet, humid, and slippery environments.
  • Constantly work near moving machinery with fumes or airborne debris.
  • Constantly work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Constantly work in extreme heat/cold (40-90°F).
  • Constantly work in high noise levels requiring hearing protection.
  • Occasionally work in high places.
  • Occasionally use hand tools causing segmental vibration.
Machines/Tools/Equipment/Software
  • Bump cap, hair net, safety glasses, hearing protection, and smock.
  • Rubber and cotton gloves.
  • Sanding and filing tools.
Required Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of handling calipers, micrometers, and other tooling equipment necessary.
  • Knowledge of correcting metallic defects or abrasion to precision equipment.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one or small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members.
