The Quality Technician / Inspector supports manufacturing operations by performing inspections, managing nonconformances, and applying practical quality tools to ensure products meet engineering specifications and customer requirements. This role is hands‑on and collaborative, with a strong focus on problem‑solving, data‑driven decisions, and continuous improvement.
This position is located in Opelika, AL. 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Key Responsibilities- Perform incoming, in-process, and final product inspections
- Develop and maintain product‑specific inspection plans and quality documentation
- Administer Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs), including investigation, documentation, and follow‑up actions
- Apply quality tools to identify root causes, trends, and corrective actions
- Partner with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues
- Support production teams with inspection methods, measurement techniques, and quality metrics
- Create, update, and maintain work instructions for critical manufacturing processes
- Accurately record inspection results and prepare quality reports for management review
- Root Cause Analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa)
- Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Control Plans and basic PPAP concepts
- Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA)
- Use of quality data to track trends and drive improvement
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing quality or inspection role
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Experience using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Technical degree or quality‑related training/certification (ASQ, CQI, etc.)
- Experience working within a formal Quality Management System
- Automotive, performance, or manufacturing industry experience
Physical Requirements
- Manufacturing and office environment
- Frequent standing, bending, and handling of parts
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally
- Consistent, accurate inspections and documentation
- Timely resolution of nonconformances
- Effective communication with cross‑functional teams
- Active participation in continuous improvement efforts
