What You’ll Do
As an Assistant Manager, you will play a key leadership role in driving sales and profitability, fostering a customer‑first selling culture and executing daily business priorities. In partnership with the Store Manager, you will be responsible for leading and developing a high‑performance team while maintaining our values, brand, policies, and operational standards. Your responsibilities span Customer Experience, Freight Flow, Operations, and Merchandising as needed.
- Model and lead a customer‑first selling culture by driving engagement, customer loyalty initiatives, visual standards, and brand values
- Analyze business trends using all available reporting to identify opportunities and take appropriate action
- Consistently exemplify and foster the culture and values of World Market
- Plan for and execute daily business tasks and duties assigned by or in the absence of the Store Manager
- Recruit, develop, and retain a high‑performance, customer‑focused team through training, recognition, and performance management
- Educate and validate team execution of key business functions using company tools and resources
- Validate and maintain loss‑prevention policies and inventory‑management initiatives
- Maintain a safe work environment through ongoing safety training, awareness, and accountability
- Proven leadership experience delivering results in customer experience and operations in a fast‑paced environment
- Excellent communication skills, openness to feedback, and the ability to adapt quickly
- Ability to provide in‑the‑moment coaching to associates
- Effective de‑escalation of store and customer situations
- Strong planning and prioritization skills aligned with business needs
- Sense of urgency, attention to detail, and creative problem‑solving
- Sound decision‑making and effective delegation skills
- Efficient execution of daily priorities
- Minimum 2+ years of leadership experience in a fast‑paced specialty retail environment (preferred)
- Flexible schedule availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
- Physical ability to stand extended periods, bend, climb ladders, and lift up to 40 lbs
- Minimum age 21 years
