Role Overview
  • Sort donated items and identify great finds
  • Help identify recyclable items. Even if we can’t sell it, we keep it out of the landfill
  • Get those great finds sales floor ready
  • Load and unload carts to get merchandise out safely and efficiently

Our processing team works together to take great care of items provided by our donors and provide excellent treasures for our customers. Whether we are hanging the perfect jeans (thrifting one pair of jeans saves the world 1,800 gallons of water yeah!) or separating out recyclable materials, we combine our passion for customers and community service.

Position Purpose and Objectives

Are you ready to contribute to a mission‑driven organization? We are looking for detail‑oriented team members to join our sorting operations. As a Sorter, you will be critical in ensuring items meet quality standards by efficiently sorting and categorizing products as they through processing to preparation for the retail floor.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Transferring bags and boxes from the cart to the table
  • Sort soft goods (e.g., clothing, bedding) and hard goods (e.g., toys, household items) into designated bins.
  • Quickly identify and separate sellable, unsellable items, and items for recycling, including those with bodily fluids or excessive wear within a time standard.
  • Place sorted items in proper areas, ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Collaborate with other team members to maintain smooth transitions between workstations.
  • Participate in team training to stay updated on quality standards and seasonal guidelines.
  • Be flexible to assist with other tasks or workstations as needed.
  • Rotate positions regularly to prevent repetitive motion injuries.
  • Uphold the organization’s commitment to safety and quality in all tasks
Skills and Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Consistent and reliable.
  • Strong attention to detail to identify quality issues quickly.
  • The ability to work efficiently to meet production targets
  • Team‑oriented mindset with excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the handling and categorization of a variety of items, including clothing, toys, and household items.
  • Operate in a fast‑paced environment that requires standing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.
  • Handle merchandise bags weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Ability to stand, walk, and meet other job‑related demands for extended periods.
  • Comprehensive on‑the‑job training will be provided.
