Position Overview

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Opelika, Alabama.

• Hourly Pay: $24.45 per hour
• Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
• Sign On Bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
• Schedule:
  
  Monday–Friday; weekends OFF
• Hours:
  
  First Shift 7:30 am – 4:00 pm
• Annual Merit Pay increases each year

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or technical certification; post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred)
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Two (2) years or more of combination classroom training and work experience (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background check (including 3 years of drug/alcohol verification from previous employers)

Important Note: Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard maintenance, component inspections, and preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable.
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and performs repairs as required.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Performs facility maintenance duties.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints and assign tasks.
• Utilizes key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation.
• Works in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT).
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations, including service island support.
