Position: SENIOR COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING SUPERVIS - 64001147

Position Summary

Senior Community Health Nursing Supervisor – Volusia County, Florida Department of Health. 10-month, career service position. Pay $78,000 to $80,000.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise nursing staff, including appraisals, planning, directing work, approving leave, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
  • Coordinate clinical services at multiple sites across Volusia County, including community‑based outreach clinics.
  • Plan, develop, implement, review, and update policies and procedures for Family Planning, Immunization, STDs, HIV, TB, epidemiology, disease control, and specialty clinics.
  • Identify program needs, training needs, equipment and supply needs, and maintain inventory.
  • Develop client scheduling plans and staff productivity standards; gather and record client data from assessment and interview processes.
  • Provide client education and counseling for each health services program; assist providers with examinations, physicals, and procedures.
  • Perform quality assurance evaluations of program efficiency, consistency, effectiveness, and continuity of care.
  • Review and audit clinical records in the DOH Volusia HMS system; initiate quality improvement projects.
  • Issue prescribed medications, birth control, and emergency contraception per nurse issuance protocol and/or provider direction.
  • Train staff on policies, programs, and procedures; advise on work‑related problems.
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests and process samples per guidelines and the HMS Laboratory Module.
  • Perform phlebotomy services and routine laboratory testing, including pregnancy tests.
  • Administer immunizations as appropriate; review immunization records, update FL SHOTS, and issue documentation (Form 680 and religious exemptions).
  • Maintain accurate timesheets, EARS, and complete mandatory training.
  • Perform emergency duty as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of nursing and public health principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Ability to supervise and manage staff.
  • Ability to administer medications and immunizations.
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy.
  • Ability to determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of assignments.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be willing to physically come to the office to perform duties and responsibilities.
  • Must have current authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
  • Must have a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
  • Must have a current license as a registered professional nurse in Florida.
  • Must pass the required background check and drug screening.
  • Must provide Social Security Number for the background check.
  • Must complete a Form I‑9 and participate in the E‑Verify system.
Preferred:
  • Experience working with an electronic health record.
